Finishing Well
"I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth... The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121: 1-2, 8 Hello dear friends and supporters~ It has been a while since our last update! We are so thankful for your faithful prayers and support and the Lord’s constant care even when we do not keep up with communication and everything else in life. Like some of you, we are in the midst of a flurry of end-of-school year activities and duties that occur for a teacher and family of a graduating senior. We are also saying many good byes and packing to leave Cameroon in just over 2 weeks. How good it is to know and rest in the truth of Psalm 121, that God helps and watches over us in all our transitions! The past couple of months have involved the following for each of us: DAVID- opportunities to speak at school chapel and Baccalaureate services - leading weekly Bible study in the home of a Cameroonian staff member from RFIS; this has been such a joy and source of sweet fellowship - continued mentoring one-on-one with several students - taking a day retreat with Heidi to pray and seek God’s leading for our family next year
HEIDI- filling in for the regular SIL Cameroon branch nurse while she was away -seeking to encourage and help some of the young missionary moms in our community - mentoring and discipleship with a few RFIS students - taking a retreat with a couple of dear friends to rest, pray and connect more deeply with God and each other
LUKE- graduates from high school on Thursday, which is the one-year anniversary since his last seizure! We are grateful for his stable health and perseverance while adjusting to the significant side effects of medications. He enjoyed serving on the school worship team, and shares the beauty he sees around him through nature photography. We are proud and humbled and thankful! GABE- balanced a heavy academic load with extracurricular activities, and thrived as part of the drama evangelism outreach team. He was privileged to visit a village & school several hours away with this team and present the gospel through drama there. It was a powerful, positive experience. He is an encouraging friend to many.
ANNA- has grown in so many ways, and will turn 13 just eight days after we are due to arrive in the U.S. She is a generous & loyal friend to kids of all ages, has started babysitting, and looks forward to soccer camp this summer. Please pray that we would glorify God and finish well here, for peace, wisdom & strength as we pack and move twice this summer, and for enough rest and plenty of laughter in the midst of this wonderful, crazy season of life as a family! Pray that our house in Philadelphia would sell for a food price and be a blessing to the new owners. We praise the Lord for His grace and the joyful privilege of serving in Cameroon. The provision of a teaching/ discipleship position at Houghton Academy for David and a home for us to purchase in Houghton, NY is a profound blessing as we have been looking for direction in our next steps. We are so thankful for each of you & continue to pray for you. Love, Heidi (and the family)
