From the nurse's office...
Technically the nurse’s office is an actual room over at the main SIL building down the road. In actual fact, that room is only used a few hours a week for routine vaccinations and various other predictable health matters. Newland #13 (Huizengas apartment), 677.500.215 (Heidi’s phone) and various neighbors’ apartments are where the real nursing action occurs.
Heidi’s nursing obligations this semester will likely decrease since the regular nurse is back in Yaoundé now. Still, here’s a sampling of her consults just since the new year began:
• Motorcycle-Bicycle collision resulting in significant burns on legs (exhaust pipe)
• Need for Gall bladder removal surgery
• Child with fast-onset fever & major joint pain (chikungunya)
• Possible strep throat
• Infected finger
• Jellyfish sting
There’s not much more to this blog entry; I just wanted to convey a snapshot of one aspect of Heidi’s ministry here. Thanks for making it possible!
