Direct & Indirect

Missionary labors could be broadly categorized as “direct” and “indirect” ministry. Most of what Heidi and I are engaged in is indirect ministry—we serve in ways that support the expat missionary community here in Cameroon. By teaching and coaching missionary kids, providing nursing care for missionaries, preaching at an English-speaking church, etc. we are helping to enable the ongoing presence of other missionaries who serve Cameroonian nationals directly.

But there are also several formal ways that we are able to serve Cameroonians directly: Many of my students are Cameroonian; Heidi recently did a basic healthcare presentation for a number of Cameroonian staff workers at RFIS; and recently I was asked by a Cameroonian to begin a Bible study for him and number of friends and their wives. This request for a Bible study is a very exciting opportunity!

We would appreciate prayer for this "direct ministry" to get off the ground succesfully. I will need wisdom from the Spirit to be able to prepare carefully and with insight into Cameroonian culture such that the study can best bring the Scriptures to bear on the attenders’ lives. This will likely begin in late January.

Thank you for following this blog and for your prayers and support of our ministry.
