Obligatory Snake Photo

Well, after 105 days we hadn't yet posted an obligatory snake photo. The fact is, encountering snakes is not a frequent occurence here. (We're in a city-ish area rather than way out in the bush. Grasses are cut back; snake-friendly habitat isn't as prevalent.) However, a groundskeeper at the school did encounter this green mamba today near the overgrown edge of the school grounds. Scary? Yes, a bit. But not much--because our God is a sovereign and merciful Protector. What better place to be than in His hands?

There are so many ways the Lord's grace has been revealed to us here. I'm rather certain we haven't heralded these graces enough! In particular, we have been reasonably diligent about mentioning prayer requests, but less faithful in proclaiming the Lord's faithful answers. So here are several words of thanks and praise for prayers answered and unasked-for blessings:

  • quieter nights - the major noise of our early days has abated

  • increasingly meaningful Cameroonian relationships - Abanda, Mado, Lucy

  • remembering ancient-history (physics!) - it's going well

  • Mekaa New Testament translation finished - 80,000 have Bible in own language

  • healing for David's broken rib - no more pain

  • healing for Anna's knee - timely medical care, stiches, no infection

  • healing for Heidi's infected finger - infection gone, no further antibiotics

  • some additional support - helping counter unexpected higher costs here

  • "strength for thy task" - many! teaching, preaching, hosting, discipling, parenting, encouraging, music-ing, leading...

We praise the Lord for these and many more mercies. Thank you for your intercession for us!
