Perspectives from Luke, Gabe & Anna

Hi! Gabe here. I was asked to write a paragraph about a peculiar little story that happened on Wednesday after we arrived. Dad and I had gone out to a little soccer field in the compound we're living in to play Frisbee. We were throwing the fluorescent green disc back and forth for a while. But half way through one of Dad's throws, a small bright object flew out of nowhere and collided with great force into the Frisbee. The Frisbee spiraled to the ground, knocked off course, while the little object dropped like a stone. On closer investigation, we discovered a beautiful bird which my mom identified as an Olive-Bellied Sunbird. The bird had been killed instantly. While it was a rather sad experience, Luke was delighted to get some great pix of the beautiful bird, a few of which are on this page. Thanks for reading!

Curiously, the yellow patch is assymetrical, only appearing on one side of the collar/chest. Thank you to Luke for these beautiful pictures.
